Further information
3-hour bike tour: Departure in the morning or early afternoon (varies depending on the season) from Elba MTB Lacona and arrival at Tenuta La Chiusa after about 1.5 hours. A 45-minute tasting/relaxation session and return to Lacona after about 1 hour (during high season, departure times are delayed by 1 hour).
Another possible starting point: Elba MTB Portoferraio (much easier tour).
The enchantment of nature and the charm of history just a stone's throw from the sea. All the essence of the island embraced by the countryside and the sea: at La Chiusa, we forget the touristy and somewhat noisy Elba and immerse ourselves in an atmosphere of times gone by. An enchanting place to spend a relaxing and romantic holiday among vineyards and centuries-old olive trees, as a couple or as a family. The estate overlooks the Gulf of Portoferraio and owes its name to the wall that surrounds it and encloses the 20 hectares of property, mostly planted with vineyards and olive trees. The main activity is the production and sale of traditional Elban wines (whites, reds, rosés, and Aleatico) and extra virgin olive oil. Its origins date back to the late 1500s, when the cellars and the ancient village were built. The wall and the manor house date back to the early 19th century.
La Chiusa also hosted Napoleon Bonaparte on two occasions: the first time immediately after his arrival on the island, while he was at anchor awaiting a full reception in Portoferraio, and again after a hunting trip on Mount Fabbrello. The historic buildings have been carefully renovated, respecting the original materials.
